The Mechanical Engineering program prepares students to meet the challenges and demands of practicing mechanical engineers in today’s world. On top of the traditional areas of mechanical design, heat and power engineering, new and renewable energy, environmental technology, thermo-fluid engineering, fuel and combustion technologies, engineering materials, industrial and product safety, and engineering management, its concentration in automation, mechatronics and robotics makes it the most innovative in the country. Its multi-disciplinary nature allows the students to take subjects in electronics, computer, and control systems engineering.
Courses in Mechanical Engineering include engineering materials, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), CAD/CAM/CAE, finite element analysis, mechatronics, kinematics, machine design, heat transfer and thermal dynamics, refrigeration and air-conditioning systems, aerodynamics, new and renewable energy, industrial and product safety, environmental engineering, and energy management.
Mechanical Engineering faculty and students are officers and active members of the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers, Philippine Society of Ventilating, Air-conditioning, and Refrigerating Engineers, American Society of Mechanical Engineers, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-conditioning Engineers, and National Research Council of the Philippines. A number of Mechanical Engineering faculty have received awards from the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST).
